The airport sees over 1 million passengers per year with both domestic and international travel, making it the ninth-busiest in the country. Regular flights connect the city with Bergen, Bodo, Harstad, Oslo and Trondheim. Regular international connections include Amsterdam and Copenhagen, with seasonal routes to Alicante.

Kristiansand Kjevik Airport is the only commercial airport in Southern Norway. As such, it doesn't just serve Kristiansand but also provides regular links to Oslo for the wider community. These include coastal towns like Flekkefjord, Mandal, Grimstad and Arendal, all connected with one another via the E18 and E39 highways. The region offers plenty of attractions to visit with a car hire in Kristiansand Kjevik Airport. These include a wide range of museums and natural landscapes, as well as the large Sørlandssenteret shopping centre and nearby Kristiansand Zoo.
