How old do you have to be to hire a car?

The short answer

  • All drivers must be 25 or older
  • 30+ for full size MPVs, Luton vans, premium and 4x4 vehicles

The long answer

All drivers must be a minimum of 25 years old. Only drivers over 30 years old may rent Full-Size MPVs, Premium vehicles and Luton vans. For customers hiring vans in the Republic of Ireland, drivers must be a minimum of 28 years old.
