What are the driving licence requirements for car hires in Spain?
Short answer
- A valid and EU-recognised driving licence (digital driving licences are not accepted).
- A valid ID.
- Age over 21 years and driving licence held for over one year to hire a vehicle with Enterprise (22 years of age and driving licence held for over two years to hire in the Canary Islands).
- Credit or debit card.
Long answer
The essential items you will need to present at one of our branches when hiring a vehicle with Enterprise are:
- A valid driving licence (digital driving licences are not accepted).
- For non-EU citizens, an international driving licence is required if the licence is not in the Latin alphabet.
- A valid ID.
- International travellers must show their passport and where they are staying while in Spain.
You must also be older than 21 years of age and have held a driving licence for over one year to hire a vehicle with Enterprise (22 years old and driving licence held for over two years in the Canary Islands). Credit or debit card.
